    ACC Board

    The ACC Board governs how we function. It delegates day-to-day leadership and management to the Chief Executive.

    ACC Board members

    The ACC Board has up to eight non-executive members, each appointed by the Minister for three years. The Minister can re-appoint a Board member or shorten their term.

    Tracey is an experienced non-executive director. She is a qualified medical practitioner, holds a Master in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She brings over 30 years of international experience in the healthcare sector and has previously held Chief Executive roles at a number of healthcare groups including St Vincent’s Health Australia and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

    David Hunt

    David is an economist with extensive public and private sector experience for both government and business organisations. David is a consulting associate and past director at Concept Consulting Group, a firm that specialises in providing advice on carbon, energy, and utility-sector issues. In this role David has led assignments for governments and businesses in New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. He has a BA Hons (First Class) in Economics and a BA in Statistics, both from Massey University.

    Bella Takiari Brame square

    Bella Takiari-Brame

    Bella is Ngāti Maniapoto and Waikato-Tainui. She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors. Bella has global experience in oil and gas and utility industries. She holds Governance roles in Iwi, Commercial and Crown entities.

    Bella holds a Master in Management Studies with Distinction from Waikato University.

    Dr Helen Nott

    Helen is an experienced company director focused on the health, wealth, care and insurance sectors. She brings over 20 years’ of experience in corporate strategy and innovation. Helen holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering. She is fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and of Chief Executive Women (Australia).

    Mark is an independent director with over 20 years’ of international experience in corporate finance. He holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting and Finance) degree, is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, a chartered fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

    Kim Gordon

    Kim has over 30 years technology advisory experience across commercial, procurement, strategy, governance, and legal roles. She was previously a partner at MinterEllison (Aus) and has held a number of not-for-profit, public, and private sector governance roles over a 17-year period.

    Kim holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland. She is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

    Dan Buckingham

    Dan has significant governance and executive leadership experience. He also brings significant lived experience, strong networks, and knowledge of the disability sector.

    Currently, as CEO of Able, Dan champions the goal of equal access to audiovisual media. Previously, as CEO of Attitude Pictures, Dan helped change perceptions of disability through visual and media content.

    He has served on the boards of Drug Free Sport NZ, Attitude Trust, and New Zealand Wheelchair Rugby. A former Paralympic athlete, Dan was part of the Gold Medal-winning team at Athens 2004 and captained the side in Beijing 2008.

    JanDawson

    Jan Dawson

    Jan is a strategic and analytical thinker with extensive experience governing large organisations. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland and is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors NZ.

    Jan's governance previous roles include Chair of Westpac New Zealand, Deputy Chair of Air New Zealand, and Director of AIG Insurance New Zealand, Beca, Goodman Fielder and Meridian Energy. She previously held the Chair and Chief Executive position in KPMG New Zealand following a 30-year career specialising in audit, consulting and accounting services in the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand.

    The Executive

    Led by the Chief Executive, the Executive Team has collective responsibility for the leadership and performance of ACC.

    Megan Main

    Megan Main

    Chief Executive 

    Megan started as Chief Executive of ACC in November 2021.

    With a strong background in healthcare and delivering quality public services, Megan is passionate about leading ACC to deliver on its purpose of improving lives every day.

    Prior to joining ACC, Megan held leadership roles at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment as Deputy Chief Executive of Managed Isolation and Quarantine, and Deputy Chief Executive of the Corporate, Governance and Information Group.

    She was previously Chief Executive at NZ Health Partnerships and Chief Executive of Health Purchasing Victoria (Australia). Before joining the health sector, Megan held senior line management and consulting roles in a range of industries including fast-moving consumer goods, manufacturing and professional services.

    Andy Milne

    Andy Milne

    Deputy Chief Executive, Strategy, Engagement and Prevention

    Andy joined ACC in September 2022 from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), where he was the Deputy Secretary for Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ).

    Prior to MBIE, Andy was Deputy National Commissioner at the Department of Corrections. Originally from the United Kingdom, Andy had an extensive career in the British police, including as a senior officer investigating fatal road crashes – an experience which makes him particularly passionate about ACC’s Prevention focus.

    The Strategy, Engagement & Prevention group leads development and implementation of ACC’s Strategy, through activities that support continuous improvement of ACC and enterprise planning. The group comprises our strategy and customer insights, enterprise planning, Government engagement, customer engagement, and performance and intelligence functions. 

    Michael Frampton

    Michael Frampton

    Deputy Chief Executive, Service Delivery

    Michael joined ACC in April 2022. He is a seasoned human resources leader with over fifteen years executive and industry leadership experience in delivering people strategy, organisational transformation and service redesign.

    Michael previously held the role of Chief People Officer at Sky TV, and prior to that spent eight years at Canterbury DHB, including as Chief People Officer and as the executive lead for the West Coast DHB. He also chaired the 20 DHB Chief People Officer group for four years, and has significant experience in large-scale, complex public and private sector roles and health environments.

    The Service Delivery group provides critical customer-facing support services for people injured in an accident, working in close partnership with other parts of ACC to achieve positive outcomes for New Zealanders. The group includes the customer connection, client recovery, service operations, service support, and integrity services functions.

    Stuart McRobie

    Stewart McRobie

    Deputy Chief Executive, Corporate and Finance

    Stewart joined ACC in August 2022. He has vast experience across the private and public sectors in banking, insurance, and government, spanning a broad range of corporate and finance functions. 

    Stewart was previously the Chief Financial Officer at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), leading the Finance and Performance group. He previously held Chief Financial Officer and other senior roles responsible for a range of finance and corporate functions, including at the New Zealand Racing Board where he also acted as Chief Executive Officer for an extended period, and has previously been the Chief Financial Officer for each of ASB, AMP and Westpac.

    The Corporate and Finance group enables the organisation through the provision of strategic and operational advice and support across ACC. It comprises our technical corporate functions across finance, legal, risk and assurance, actuarial, procurement and property, and privacy.

    Lisa Hansen

    Deputy Chief Executive, People and Culture

    Lisa joined ACC in July 2023 and brings a wealth of senior HR leadership experience across a number of sectors including financial services, media and healthcare.  

    The People and Culture group is responsible for our enterprise people strategy to help enable the business to deliver on our mission of improving the lives of New Zealanders every day. It is responsible for ensuring that our people are considered in all aspects of the business – with a focus on the people experience and outcomes from attraction and onboarding, development and change, through to the wellbeing and safety of our people.

    Chief Investments Officer

    Paul first joined ACC in 2008 and became Chief Investments Officer in 2019.

    Before joining ACC Paul was Chief Investment Officer of both AMP Capital Investors and the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, Chief Advisor to the Minister of Finance and an economist with the New Zealand Treasury and stockbroker Buttle Wilson (now UBS).​​​​​

    The Investments group manages our investments to achieve the best possible balance of return and risk by continually reviewing strategic asset allocations to ensure they provide the best possible balance of risk and expected return and actively managing our investment portfolio to gain better risk-adjusted returns than we would achieve from passive investments. This group develops ACC’s overall investment strategy and manages a significant proportion of ACC’s investment portfolio which includes managing strategic asset allocation, equities, fixed interest and direct markets.

    John Bennett

    Deputy Chief Executive - System Commissioning and Performance

    John brings extensive strategic health commissioning experience across operational, strategic and governance roles - in line management, consulting and lecturing capacities.

    John’s previous roles have included Executive Director Strategy and Commissioning in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Principal with KPMG, and Director at PwC UK. John has worked in some of the largest global healthcare organisations and advised in four continents on commissioning, healthcare delivery and regulation. During his time in the NHS, he worked on national policy implementation – notably on integrated care, clinical performance improvement and outcome-based commissioning. 

    System Commissioning & Performance takes a strategic view of New Zealand's health and rehabilitation ecosystem and is responsible for our health pathways design, rehabilitation system redesign and strategic commissioning of services. There's also a focus on monitoring and managing provider performance and outcomes.

    Rēnata Blair

    Deputy Chief Executive - Te Rauawa Māori | DCE Māori

    Rēnata joined ACC following a career spanning 25 years in the Māori sector of education, business, and finance. 

    In his role as General Manager Māori Business at BNZ, he worked to grow the bank across te ao Māori both in meeting the needs of their customers and as a workplace which attracts, grows, and retains kaimahi Māori. He is an experienced leader at a board level, having served on Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust, Eden Park Board and AUT University Council.

    The role of DCE – Māori reflects the need for ACC to have influential and widely recognised Māori expertise, strategic guidance, and advice at the highest level of the organisation - ensuring we honour our Te Tiriti obligations and fulfil the potential of our ten-year strategy, Huakina Te Rā.​​​​​​​

    Michael Dreyer

    Michael Dreyer

    Deputy Chief Executive, Technology and Data

    Michael brings extensive data, digital and technology leadership and delivery experience in both the private and public sectors, the past seven years in the health sector.

    He is a highly regarded sector leader, is involved in a number of cross-government technology and digital groups, was named in the Top 10 CIOs in New Zealand in 2021 and received a Public Service Medal in 2022 for his service during COVID.

    Michael is currently the Director Sector Digital Channels at Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand, and prior to that he was the GM National Digital Services and Chief Technology Officer at the Ministry of Health. During this period, he was also the Covid technology lead and established and led the national contact tracing service.

    Michael has a Master of Forestry Science from Canterbury University and prior to the health sector, worked for Contact Energy for nine years in a range of technology, transformation and programme roles, including a period as CIO.
