Updates to payment rates for residential care homes providing interim care

Released 30/10/2024

ACC works closely with many residential care homes who provide short-term or lifelong residential care depending on kiritaki (clients) who have injury-related needs. Some facilities provide interim care for kiritaki who leave hospital following an injury and who need further support before returning to their usual home.

For residential care providers who do not have a contract with ACC, from 1 November 2024 we’re raising purchase orders using rates comparable with the rates set by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for each region.

View the rates on Health New Zealand

Using these agreed regional rates for residents will speed up the process by removing administrative delays and will also ensure ACC is paying for interim care in line with other agencies.

Important reminder for contracted providers

From 1 November 2024, if you’re a residential care provider who already holds a contract with ACC, we’re raising approvals for interim care using the short-term rates in your contract. If your contract with ACC does not include short-term rates, please email us to confirm that you’d like these added at:

health.procurement@acc.co.nz

For general questions about how we’ll pay for interim care from 1 November 2024, email us:
