Holidays Act changes: A guide for ACC providers
Released 23/05/2018
The Holidays Act was amended on 31 January 2018. The term ‘medical practitioner’ has replaced health practitioner.
Health practitioner has the same meaning as in section 5 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 and is a broader group than medical practitioner.
Health practitioners are now able to provide proof of sickness or injury for the purpose of sick leave taken under the Holidays Act.

How this affects weekly compensation
For clients, the ACC Act 2001 still requires that a medical certificate be received from a medical or nurse practitioner prior to weekly compensation entitlements being assessed.
