Support for survivors of abuse in care

This month marks the release of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care’s final report, a significant milestone in the Inquiry process. 

ACC recognises the significance of the Royal Commission of Inquiry and acknowledges the bravery and courage of the many survivors who shared their experiences. 

If you are currently supporting a survivor of abuse in care, please be aware they might require additional support during this period. Due to the increased focus and media activity, there may also be more people seeking support.  

In addition to ACC supports, survivors of abuse in care can access the Survivor Experiences Service. This is a supportive, confidential place for survivors to share their experiences. Survivors and whānau can access the service by:
