New code for specialised equipment for maternal birth injuries

We’ve launched a new non-contracted code for specialised equipment (for example, pessaries) required to support kiritaki (clients) with maternal birth injuries. The new code is EUMBI and requires prior approval from ACC before it’s billed.
You need to provide a clear rationale around the recommended items, so we can make consistent decisions about the approval of this code.

All non-specialised equipment should still be purchased through our contracted rehabilitation equipment services. This code is only for specialised items related to maternal birth injuries. We’ll be closely monitoring its use and intend to use the purchasing data to create a more long-term purchasing solution.
