Our levies

What levies you pay depend on whether you’re self-employed, an employer or employee, and whether you own and drive a vehicle. We review levies every three years.

What your levies pay for

When you pay your levy invoice, license your vehicle, fill up with petrol, or go to work, you're contributing towards helping anyone injured in New Zealand.

Paying levies if you own or drive a vehicle

All motor vehicle owners pay the Motor Vehicle levy. This includes car owners, truck driver and motorcyclists. The levy covers injuries that happen on our roads.

The levy setting process

As all New Zealanders are paying levies, we want to make your levies as fair as possible. We review levies once every three years and make changes to reflect this.

Levy results

We consult levy payers on proposed levy rates and other levy related proposals. We consider all feedback received and present our recommendations to the Minister for ACC.
