ACC appoints Deputy Chief Executive System Commissioning & Performance

John Bennett has been appointed as our Deputy Chief Executive System Commissioning & Performance, joining ACC on 2 September.


John brings extensive strategic health commissioning experience across operational, strategic and governance roles, including leadership, consulting and lecturing capacities.

His previous roles have included Executive Director Strategy and Commissioning in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Principal with KPMG and Director at PwC UK.

He has worked in some of the largest global healthcare organisations and advised in four continents on commissioning, healthcare delivery and regulation. During his time in the NHS, John worked on national policy implementation, notably on integrated care, clinical performance improvement and outcome-based commissioning.

John holds an MA in Managing Healthcare Organisations from the University of Manchester Business School and has lectured on healthcare strategy. He has also advised start-up healthcare organisations through Exeter Business School.

In New Zealand, he’s been advising Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand’s Executive team on system performance, reporting and accountability.
