New resources make working with ACC easier for health providers

After listening to feedback from health providers, we’ve developed a range of online resources to make working with us easier.

We know there’s a lot to take on board for health providers when they’re new to working with ACC.

Even if they’ve been with us for a while, there’s plenty of important information they need easy access to.

That’s why we’re taking steps to make life easier for the 30,000 health providers across the motu who partner with us to improve the lives of our clients every day.

We’ve created a series of simple resources so they can feel confident helping their patients access the care and support available through ACC, regardless of how long they’ve been with us.

Through our discussions with a range of different providers and research, the need for straightforward, concise and easy-to-find information was clear. It was also important our own people were there to tell health providers all about it.

Everything health providers need to know about ACC

To start with, we’ve developed short introductory videos, a new and engaging webinar forum to answer any questions, and a series of handy quick guides to make it easier for health providers to find out what they need to know – fast.

These are all hosted on our new Getting Started with ACC webpage and are also available on the refreshed health providers section of our website.

These resources explain the basics of ACC – how we work, how we’re funded and what we cover.

They also provide practical knowledge, including how to register with us, lodge claims, invoice appropriately and use Read Codes.

Health providers will also learn about their roles and responsibilities as part of the ACC scheme so they know exactly what’s expected of them and what they can expect from us.

Saving time to focus on patients

“We know time is valuable for our providers, so we wanted to create easy-to-access resources which are ready when they are,” says Dr John Robson, Chief Clinical Officer and Head of Health Partnerships for ACC.

“Our refreshed web sections are a great place for new and existing providers to get to know us and understand how we can work together for the benefit of our clients. The pages have been designed around common questions providers ask and are presented in a clear and engaging way.”

Getting Started with ACC is also a great place for practice administrators to direct new colleagues so they can start their journey with ACC the right way.

“For our new providers in particular, being clear about how we work together from the get-go will set them up for a successful partnership with us,” Dr Robson says.

The initial suite of resources are part of an ongoing effort to develop useful education information for health providers. Providers can expect to see more resources online and are encouraged to submit feedback and ideas for future resources to provider.engagement@acc.co.nz

“With our growing library of resources, we’re looking forward to continuing to help providers gain a deeper and richer knowledge of ACC and our partnership,” Dr Robson says.

“This will allow providers to spend less time understanding how to work with us and more time with their patients.”

Being on the same page means we can also pay health providers promptly for their valuable services and free up even more of their time.
