ACC’s Pasifika Advisory Panel
The ACC Pasifika Advisory Panel has been created to support our strategic direction, development, and delivery of services for Pasifika.
The story of Pasifika peoples in Aotearoa continues to evolve. We want Pasifika to engage with ACC when they need us, but we know there are barriers that exist.
To change this, we’re embarking on a journey to do a better job of serving Aotearoa’s unique and diverse Pasifika communities. The Pasifika Advisory Panel has been created to help us to achieve this goal.
Making ACC accessible and equitable for Pasifika
The Pasifika Advisory Panel exists to help us understand how we can engage with Pasifika to remove barriers to accessing our services. The panel supports ACC’s strategic direction, development, and delivery of services for Pasifika. It helps to ensure our services are accessible and equitable for Pasifika fanau and communities in Aotearoa.
Their collective expertise will help us to support Pasifika fanau by:
- enabling Pasifika to access their full entitlement of support, service, and independence
- engaging Pasifika in culturally responsive and respectful ways, and
- sharing, advocating, and promoting Pasifika culture as a source of innovation and creativity at ACC.
Our panel members represent a range of organisations and individuals. Members are selected to advise and advocate for the aspirations of Pasifika and their fanau.

Improving Pasifika access to ACC
Currently, Pasifika make up over eight per cent of Aotearoa’s total population. More than 60 per cent of the total Pacific population are born in New Zealand.
However, they account for only six per cent of ACC claims lodged annually. They also represent just five per cent of total claims costs.
We want Pasifika to engage with ACC when they need us, but we know there are barriers in the way. The Pasifika Advisory Panel will help us to address these barriers, helping Pasifika communities in Aotearoa to thrive.
